I am thrilled to have joined IU Research (IUR) as the new director of human resources and to share some of my priorities with you. First and foremost, my primary focus is getting to know IUR leaders, divisions, and employees. Understanding the unique needs and challenges of each team will enable me to provide tailored support and guidance to enhance our collective effectiveness.
In line with this, I am committed to streamlining and improving HR processes across the board. By implementing best practices and leveraging innovative solutions, we can optimize efficiency and enhance the employee experience—all of which means better support for the researchers we serve. Ensuring compliance with university policies is also a top priority. Upholding integrity and honesty in all our HR practices is non-negotiable, and I will work diligently to ensure that we adhere to all relevant regulations and guidelines.
At the core of my HR philosophy are integrity, honesty, and respect. I firmly believe in the importance of fostering a culture of trust and transparency. Building on recent IUR functional expectations conversations and Performance at IU, the groundwork has been set to create a positive work environment where every individual understands the value and expectations of their role and is empowered to contribute their best.
A strong advocate for employee development, I believe in investing in our people and providing opportunities for growth and advancement. By nurturing talent and cultivating skills, we not only enhance individual capabilities and strengthen the IUR team, we will be prepared to meet growing service needs in line with ambitious Pillar 2 goals of the IU 2030 Strategic Plan.
It is important to note that while HR operates as a separate function, we are an integral part of IUR. Our goal is to serve as trusted partners, offering guidance and support while ensuring compliance with relevant IU policies and the law.
I am genuinely excited about the opportunity to work with each of you and contribute to the continued expansion of transformational research at IU.
Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions, concerns, or ideas. My door is always open, and I look forward to connecting with you soon.
