Selected limited submission funding opportunities
The NSF Research Traineeship (NRT) program seeks proposals that explore ways for graduate students in research-based master’s and doctoral degree programs to develop the skills, knowledge and competencies needed to pursue a range of STEM careers. The NRT program addresses workforce development, emphasizing broad participation and institutional capacity building needs in graduate education, and encourages proposals that involve strategic collaborations with the private sector, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), government agencies, national laboratories, field stations, teaching and learning centers, informal science centers and academic partners. NRT especially welcomes proposals that include partnership with NSF Inclusion across the Nation of Communities of Learners of Underrepresented Discoverers in Engineering and Science (INCLUDES) and leverage INCLUDES project efforts to develop STEM talent from all sectors and groups in our society.

Through project-based funding, the NEA Grants for Arts Projects supports public engagement with, and access to, various forms of art across the nation, the creation of art, learning in the arts at all stages of life and the integration of the arts into the fabric of community life. They fund arts projects in the following disciplines: Artist Communities, Arts Education, Dance, Design, Folk & Traditional Arts, Literary Arts, Local Arts Agencies, Media Arts, Museums, Music, Musical Theater, Opera, Presenting & Multidisciplinary Arts, Theater and Visual Arts. A project may consist of one or more specific events or activities; it may be a new initiative or part of your organization’s regular season or activities. Organizations that undertake a single short-term program in a year could apply for that event, or they could identify certain components (such as the presentation of a particular artist and the associated activities) as their project. Organizations may apply for any or all phases of a project, from its planning through its implementation.
Internal Competition (InfoReady): Internal Deadline: 5/1/24
External Solicitation: External Deadline: 7/11/25
Award: $10,000 to $100,000. All grants require a nonfederal cost share/match of at least 1 to 1. The grants cannot exceed 50% of the total cost of the project.
Limitation: One per campus or Independent component, such as an art museum, radio station or any unit that is both programmatically and administratively distinct from the parent organization, equivalent to a stand-alone institution. Contact limsub@iu.edu to confirm whether your unit qualifies as an independent component, as this status must be verified by the NEA. Please note: IU Bloomington as a campus is not eligible to apply for this round because this campus submitted a proposal in the February 2024 round. However, Independent Components based in Bloomington (as mentioned above) are still eligible to apply for the July 2024 round.
