2022 Global Philanthropy Environment Index

Across the globe, people have responded to the tremendous challenges experienced in recent years by helping others. However, despite a slight improvement in the global philanthropy environment, a new report from the IU Lilly Family School of Philanthropy at IUPUI finds there are some key hurdles that continue to threaten the philanthropic ecosystem.

  • Applications are being accepted for the Faculty Fellowship for Research in Social Sciences grants. The funding is open to tenure-track faculty in the Colleges of Arts and Sciences, the O'Neill School, the Luddy School and Hamilton-Lugar who are pursuing research in social sciences. Faculty Research Fellows will receive a single course release to pursue a research project in the social sciences. Deadline to apply is March 25.
  • The Office of the Vice Provost for Research is offering seed funding of up to $40,000 through its Faculty Research Support program. The program supports new research projects that have not been previously submitted for external funding but are targeted for submission to a specific agency and whose likelihood of funding would increase with the acquisition of data or proof of concept. The deadline for the next round of funding is April 1 More information and application available online
  • IUPUI researchers can apply for the Research Support Funds Grant program, which provides seed funding of up to $35,000 for research projects and scholarly activities that are sustainable through external funding. The deadline for the next round of funding is April 1. Learn more and apply.
  • Researchers at IUPUI can apply for multiple grants from the IUPUI Arts and Humanities Institute, including its Diversity Fellows Grant, the Research and Creative Activities Grants and the Summer Academy Fellows Grant. The deadlines to apply are March 31.

  • IU researchers are invited to join the "How to Interact Effectively with Federal Funders" webinar at 10 a.m. on March 24 to gain valuable insight into what it takes to transform a good idea into a funding initiative or federal program. Learn more and register.
  • IU Bloomington Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute's (CTSI) Retreat takes place virtually April 26. This year's theme is "Impact of the sociology in health and wellness in times of social change". The event is free. Registration is available online.
  • Mary Murphy, Herman B. Wells Endowed Professor of Psychological and Brain Sciences, will present the 2022 Distinguished Faculty Research Award and Lecture "Faculty as Culture Creators: The Role of Faculty Mindset in Student Success" at 3 p.m. on May 2 at the IU Cinema. The event is open to the public and can also be viewed via Zoom.
