Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 protests against police brutality and racism in the U.S. have left many wondering how we move forward. During July and August, tune in to Confronting Racism, a weekly series of panel discussions with faculty experts on race and racism, for insights and discussion. IU Bloomington's Center for Research on Race and Ethnicity in partnership with the Arts and Humanities Council and the College of Arts and Humanities Institute is convening experts to address how racism plays a role in topics as diverse as protests, policing, urban geographies, technology, and global systems. The series runs until August 11, streaming live every Tuesday at 8pm, through the A&H Council Facebook page.

COVID-19 Funding Opportunities
In response to the crises of 2020, the Russell Sage Foundation is dedicating its next funding cycle exclusively to research that seeks to improve our understanding of these extraordinary times. The severe consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, including its economic disruptions, and the recent mass protests to combat systemic racial inequality in policing and other institutions highlight the importance of social science research examining economic, political, racial, ethnic, generational, and social inequalities relevant to public policy and social change. Letters of inquiry that address specific issues are due August 5, 2020.

IU's Office of the Vice President for Research and Office of the Vice President of Government Relations and Economic Engagement are co-hosting the first IU Quarry webinar for IU faculty, staff, and students who have started a company or are considering it to help them prepare for venture capital investment.
