A nationally known expert in health care law, public health law, bioethics, torts and international health and family law, Seema Mohapatra is an associate professor of law and dean's fellow at the IU Robert H. McKinney School of Law. Mohapatra is studying legal and ethical issues relating to COVID-19 social distancing and mask restrictions; health inequities and how race is interplaying with the pandemic and reproductive justice; and support for policies that benefit families in light of the pandemic.
COVID-19 Funding Opportunities
The Draper Richards Kaplan Foundation has created a time-limited special initiative to actively solicit proposals for quickly deployable fundable solutions that can immediately provide relief for issues created by the current Covid-19 pandemic. The foundation is looking to jumpstart projects that can realistically deploy within 30 days. Anticipated funding is in the $50K-$100K range.
The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation is sponsoring the Emergency Response for the Healthcare System Innovation Challenge, which poses the question, "Can you create a digital tool supporting the healthcare system (including but not limited to providers, government, and public health and community organizations) during a large-scale health crisis (pandemic, natural disaster, or other public health emergency)?" Awards of $1,000 to semi-finalists and up to $25,000 to finalists.
