May 29, 2020 - IU Research Impact: COVID-19 update

IU research restart set to begin June 1

IU has announced guidelines for the safe, phased restart of on-campus research. Beginning June 1, faculty, staff, and graduate students will be able to resume on-campus and field research that was stopped by the COVID-19 pandemic, with a goal of resuming all on-campus research by July 1. Resumption of on-campus research will require compliance with the guidelines and campus-specific requirements and coordination with department/school and campus leaders, using a simple online form. Under the guidelines, research that can be conducted from home or online should continue to be.

COVID-19 Funding Opportunities

The Greenwall Foundation is requesting proposals for the Spring 2020 cycle of its bioethics grants program, Making a Difference in Real-World Bioethics Dilemmas, to support research on important emerging or unanswered bioethics problems in clinical, biomedical, or public health decision-making, policy, or practice. The COVID-19 pandemic is a priority topic. The foundation will fund 10% indirect costs for salary and benefits only. Deadline for Letters of Intent is June 24, 2020.

Indy Chamber and Kelley Executive Education at the IU Kelley School of Business are offering a Rapid Recovery webinar series that will give business owners best practices and strategies for reopening and recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic. Free and open to the public, the series will cover topics ranging from setting a recovery strategy and rebuilding business financials to repairing supply chains and attracting new customers.
An IU Environmental Resilience Institute webinar on "Communicable Diseases and Environmental Change - Is there a Connection?" is available online. It features IUPUI experts addressing connections between the appearance of new diseases, including Ebola and SARS, and human-driven changes to the environment.
